Good article. If the reader is in a location where the total cost to own (mortgage, insurance, taxes, insurance, and maintenance) is way above the cost to rent, then consider this tactic: 1) rent, 2) estimate the difference between cost of ownership and cost of rent, and 3) invest this difference (or as much of the difference as you can afford) in one or more REITs.
