Over My Shoulder

A German constitutional issue

September 27, 2011

Sitting in the lounge at the Malta airport, I read this. It’s Ambrose Evans-Pritchard again, in The Telegraph. Today, he’s talking about the German legal position. In short, if the German folks want to adopt any of the measures that might be proposed for the Eurozone going forward, they are free to do so. But not without a REFERENDUM and a NEW CONSTITUTION, sayeth the head of the constitutional court. A couple of very pesky obstacles, don’t you think? This article should definitely be part of your expanding repertoire on the fine points of European madness.
