Eric Kraus is based in Moscow but seems to travel as much as I do. I have read his Truth and Beauty (published randomly) for some years, and met him last summer in Vancouver when we were on a panel together. He does investing in Russia, is fluent in a number of languages, and is a very interesting, well-read guy. He is also outrageous in his views. He may be an acquired taste. He is an outspoken supporter of Putin and opposed to oligarchs. I can count on reading an opposite view from what I get in the typical press on Russia. I usualy don't agree with most of it, but he is thoughtful and presents his ideas in a certain context. It forces me to think and that makes him quite worthwhile. With that introduction, he has been in China of late, and his views are again mirror-opposite to other writings that I am trying to get permission to post.
